About Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine

Chinese Medicine is a complete medical system incorporating acupuncture, herbal therapy, tuina and other remedy ailments that have diagnosed, treated and prevented illness for centuries. In addition, Chinese medicine enhances your own healing power from injuries/trauma, immunity and adds to the capacity for you to live in harmony with body, mind and soul

Diagnosis

I will assess your health by feeling your pulse at each wrist, by observing the color and form of your tongue, face and body. This information along with the information collected from you, from your past and present complaints, work, and living habits, physical environment, your family history and emotional life will be taken in context to make a diagnosis. All of this will be based on your main health concern and it will give me the ability to design a treatment plan customized for you. Your treatment also includes an herbal consultation and any nutritional recommendations that apply based on your diagnoses.

Treatments
Your first treatment will last about an hour to and hour and half since I will assess your needs and your current status, and I must collect as much information from you to make a proper diagnosis. It is important for you fill out and sign all paperwork sent to you before your treatment.  All following treatments will last between forty minutes to an hour, but it ultimately depends upon the nature, the severity of your health issue. Treatments are scheduled as often as three times a week, once a week or as little as once per month. Response varies and some patients might resolve their health issue in one visit, while others need it continually for sustained health care to reverse and harmonize imbalances that have accumulated over a long period of time.

 How does it feel
All needles used are used only once. They are disposable sterilized needles. They are about the thickness of a hair and sometimes go unnoticed when inserted and other do feel a small pinch followed by a sensation of tingling, numbness, ache, called qi (chi). This is your own body’s energy per se travelling in your body and the needles help conduct and regulate this energy to bring balance to your body.
